The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is “Women Leaders: Achieving an Equal Future in a World of Coronavirus 2019”, celebrating the tremendous efforts of women and girls around the world to shape a more equal future and recover from the 2019 Coronavirus pandemic.

Women are at the forefront of responding to the 2019 coronavirus crisis as health workers, caregivers, innovators, community organizers, and some of the exemplar national leaders who have effectively fought the pandemic. The crisis has highlighted the central role of women’s contribution and the excessive burden they bear.

Theme of this year and the commission on the status of women of the 65th session of the first corresponds to the theme, namely “women’s equal participation in decision-making in public life”, at the same time conform to the “equality of generation” flagship activities, the activities called for women enjoy decision-making power in all areas of life, men and women equal pay, equal to share the free care and household chores, to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls act as well as women to satisfy their needs of medical service.

That’s why this year’s International Women’s Day is a call to an equal generation to achieve an equal future for all. The Equal Generation Forum, a global gathering for investment and innovation in gender equality, will open in Mexico City on March 29, solstice, 31 and close in Paris in June 2021. The Forum brings leaders, visionaries and activists from around the world together safely on a virtual platform to drive the next generation of transformative and lasting change.
