On March 27, the world briefly went dark, in order of time zones, as countries dimmed their lights for an hour at 8.30pm local time. Earth Hour aims to encourage individuals, communities and businesses to turn off non-essential lights and power-consuming products for one hour.
Lights went out at the United Nations headquarters in New York
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for “reconciliation with nature” in a video message. “We would not be able to thrive or even survive on this planet without the help of nature,” he said.
